SAM Palmer made up for lost time over the enforced winter weather lay-off with victory in the John Tallack Trophy at Padbrook Park.
The nine-handicapper scored 37 stableford points to take the title by two points. The teenager did the hard work on the front nine including a birdie on the par five sixth hole.
He built up enough of a cushion to win, despite dropping shots on the last four holes. Neill Woodman took second spot with a score of 35 points.
He recovered after failing to score on the opening two holes but a birdie on the tenth saw him return an improved score on the back nine.
Alex Held took third place on countback, thanks in part, to a birdie on the 17th.
The event doubled up as the first leg of the Four Seasons Challenge with Spring, Summer and Autumn events to follow later in the year.
John Tallack Trophy: 1 S. Palmer 37pts, 2 N. Woodman 35, 3 A. Held 34, 4 D Murgatroyd 34, 5 S. Held 33, 6 G. Prigg 33.
