HARRY Evans survived the scare of a double bogey on the short par four 17th hole to win the Padbrook Masters with a four under par nett 68.

A par at the last meant he finished one shot ahead of Gary Stevenson in the season-ending event.

Stevenson had three birdies in his round but a bogey on the final hole saw him come up just short.

He was four shots ahead of Luke Ellis who took third place with a nett 73. Evans has now seen his handicap come down from 16 to 14.

Harry Evans staged a superb finish to come from behind to win the Summer Singles sponsored by PGA Advanced Professional Stuart Disney. The teenager had been one down with two to play against Kelvin Curtis but back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes secured the victory.

Ian Coates won the Senior's October Medal with a level par round of 72. The 21 handicapper finished two shots ahead of nearest rival Jim Kennard.

Padbrook were unable to retain the East Devon League Trophy and had to settle for third place.

Padbrook scored 130 in the eight man event. Dave Payne and Dave Turner top scored with 36 points.

The event was won by home club Axe Cliff with 139 ahead of Honiton who scored 131.
