THE three teams to join the Combination League for the 2020/21 season have been chosen.

Holman SC, Illogan RBL reserves and Ludgvan have been voted into the league following the league's AGM, which was conducted via post over the past two weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Six teams had applied for the vacancies, with Gerrans and St Mawes United, Probus and St Newlyn East missing out.

The trio of clubs will join Pendeen Rovers, Ruan Minor, Hayle reserves, RNAS Culdrose, Lizard Argyle, St Day reserves, Penryn Athletic reserves, Rosudgeon, Wendron United thirds, Marazion, Helston Athletic thirds, Perranporth reserves and St Agnes reserves in the league next season.

The league had 13 members following the withdrawal of Carharrack during last season and Porthleven reserves' recently confirmed promotion to the St Piran League, meaning three spaces were available to take the league to its maximum capacity of 16 teams.

With all divisions declared null and void it means that normal promotion and relegation will not apply this season, with no divisional constitutions set to change unless any vacancies existed.

Holmans were leading the Trelawny League Premiership and would have been in line to earn promotion via the usual method, but have been admitted by the member clubs of the Combination League.

The same applies to Illogan RBL reserves, who were fourth in the Premiership prior to the suspension of all football.

Ludgvan are returning to the Combination League for the first time since they were promoted out of the division three years ago, with player availability issues seeing them finish bottom of the South West Peninsula League Division 1 West in 2018/19 before withdrawing from the St Piran League West last season. Their reserve team were 12th in the 13-team Trelawny League Championship last season.

Holmans expressed their delight on Twitter, saying: "We are pleased to announce we have achieved what we aimed for at the start of the 19/20 season and the 1st Team have been promoted to the LWC Combination League. A thoroughly deserved promotion from a strong position in the Trelawny Premier League at the end of March."
