The St Piran League has announced that the league will be sponsored by Kernow Stone from the start of the 2020/21 season.
The Cornish natural stone provider becomes the first-ever sponsor of the league, with the competition’s two divisions operating without a sponsor for the inaugural campaign – to be later declared null and void – in 2019/20.
Kernow Stone sponsored the first edition of the St Piran League Cup last season, which got as far as the semi-final stage before football was suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The league will now be looking for a new League Cup sponsor.
League Secretary Steve Carpenter said: “It’s brilliant news that Kernow Stone have decided to continue their relationship with the league. As the senior Cornish league we look to maintain a strong Cornish image and Kernow Stone perfectly reflects that.
“We sincerely hope that this link up can become a long standing arrangement. We are of course now looking for a new sponsor for the League Cup.”
Kernow Stone is the leading provider of natural stone in Cornwall. Its parent company, Martin and Sons, was founded in 1909 and remains a family run business. With a wealth of experience and having taken delivery of a new saw (the first of its calibre fitted in the world) just prior to the shutdown the company will be re-opening its premises in Dundance Lane, Pool for business on May 18. Its sister company Plymouth Stone will open on the same day.
