The Kernow Football Alliance squad for this summer's CONIFA World Football Cup has been revealed.

The 20-strong squad for the tournament, which takes place in Skopje in North Macedonia from May 30 to June 7, was announced on Sunday.

But who are the ones set to represent the county in Skopje?

The Packet has produced a handy guide to the players destined to don the Cornish jersey this summer.

Jason Robertson - Helston Athletic

Position: Goalkeeper

Kernow FA caps: 2

Kernow FA goals: 0

Robertson has been a key figure in Helston's remarkable, and still ongoing, 22-game winning run in the South West Peninsula League Premier West.

The former Porthleven and Mousehole goalkeeper returned to the Blues from the Seagulls in the summer and has been a near ever-present for Steve Massey's side.

Ed Timmons - Helston Athletic

Position: Defender

Kernow FA caps: 3

Kernow FA goals: 0

Robertson's Blues team-mate is a relatively new addition at Kellaway Park, having joined from local rivals Porthleven in December.

The former Falmouth Town, St Austell and Bodmin Town right-back enjoyed a scoring home debut for Helston in their 4-0 win over Camelford on December 7.

Timmons is one of six squad members to have played for Kernow in their first-ever match against a Foxhole Stars XI.

Will Tinsley - St Austell

Position: Defender

Kernow FA caps: 0

Kernow FA goals: 0

Tinsley had been a regular face in the St Austell team, spending ten years with the club before joining Plymouth Parkway at the start of this season, only to rejoin the Lillywhites back in October.

The 30-year-old St Austell stalwart, who featured in the Lillywhites' superb run to the FA Vase semi-finals in 2014/15, is a new addition to the Kernow squad.

James Ward - Falmouth Town

Position: Defender

Kernow FA caps: 2

Kernow FA goals: 0

The centre-back will likely be the first name on the team sheet for Kernow's World Football Cup opener this summer, having been named captain of the side.

Ward, 26, has had a busy season, starting the campaign by scoring three goals in 12 games for Truro City before returning to Falmouth Town, but is still on the books at both Truro and Western League side Tavistock.

Ward scored the decisive goal in Falmouth Town's Cornwall Senior Cup final triumph in 2019.

Tom Whipp - Bodmin Town

Position: Defender

Kernow FA caps: 4

Kernow FA goals: 0

Central defender Whipp has a wealth of SWPL experience, having been a regular fixture for Torpoint, Falmouth, Newquay, Bodmin and Porthleven in recent seasons, before rejoining Bodmin from the latter a couple of months ago.

Whipp is also one of five players to have played in all four Kernow matches to date, and one of three to make the World Cup squad.

Kieran Conibear-Trathen - Sandviks IK

Position: Defender

Kernow FA caps: 0

Kernow FA goals: 0

Conibear-Trathen is one of two squad members currently plying their trade in Sweden. The former Truro City man joined Sandviks IK in 2014, with the Swedish club about to embark on their 2020 campaign in fifth-tier Division 3 Norra Norrland after being relegated from Division 2 Norrland last season.

Conibear-Trathen also represented Wadebridge Town during his time in England.

Jack Calver - Plymouth Parkway

Position: Defender

Kernow FA caps: 0

Kernow FA goals: 0

Plymouth Parkway defender Calver began his career as a youngster at Plymouth Argyle before being released in 2017, upon which he moved to National League South side Truro City.

Calver swapped Treyew Road for Poltair Park in 2017, enjoying a two-year spell with St Austell before joining Tinsley in making the move to Parkway last summer.

The 22-year-old has scored seven goals in 18 Western League games for Lee Hobbs' side this term.

Billy Palfrey - Plymouth Parkway

Position: Defender

Kernow FA goals: 0

Palfrey, like Calver, began his football journey in the youth set-up at Plymouth Argyle before also being released in 2017, when he made the switch to Truro.

He initially joined Plymouth Parkway on a short-term loan in 2018 before making a permanent move to the Western League side last summer.

Palfrey has also enjoyed a solid season with Parkway, scoring five goals in 29 games this term.

Harry Clarke - St Austell

Position: Midfielder

Kernow FA goals: 1

Former Falmouth Town and Bodmin Town midfielder Clarke is another ever-present in the Kernow squad, playing all four games during the team's existence.

Part of Falmouth's Walter C Parson League Cup-winning side in 2018, Clarke also has the honour of scoring the first goal in Kernow's history, netting the opener in their 3-2 victory over Foxhole Stars XI in their first-ever game.

Max Gilbert - Bodmin Town

Position: Midfielder

Kernow FA caps: 3

Kernow FA goals: 0

Nephew of manager Darren, Max Gilbert is enjoying another good season in the heart of Bodmin's midfield, scoring six goals so far this term to add to his nine goals in 40 games in 2018/19.

The former Cornwall under-18s player scored Bodmin's sole goal in an 11-1 defeat at home to Cardiff City in a pre-season friendly in 2018, with his performance earning him a trial with the Bluebirds' under-23s in their match at Liskeard Athletic a few days later.

He has been another regular fixture for Kernow in the team's fledgling history, missing just one of their four matches to date.

Shane White - Taunton Town

Position: Midfielder

Kernow FA goals: 0

Versatile defender/midfielder White adds more higher-level experience to this squad, having come through Plymouth Argyle's youth system before playing for Falmouth Town, St Blazey and Truro City, scoring the winner in the Southern League play-off final in 2015 to send City up to the National League South.

The 29-year-old scored seven goals in 39 games in the division before joining Taunton in October 2016, helping the Peacocks towards the Southern Football League West title in 2018.

Josh Bragg - Atvidabergs FF

Position: Midfielder

Kernow FA caps: 0

Kernow FA goals: 0

Another family connection here, with Josh being the son of co-founder Andrew Bragg. He, like Conibear-Trathen, plys his trade in the Swedish leagues, turning out for fourth-tier club Atvidabergs FF.

The 28-year-old began his footballing career with Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United before joining Conibear-Trathen at Sandviks. He has also played in Australia for Dandenong Thunder SC of the second-tier National Premier Leagues Victoria.

Olly Brokenshire - Helston Athletic

Position: Midfielder

Kernow FA goals: 0

Another experienced Blues player, Brokenshire joined Mark Goldsworthy, Neil Slateford and Liam Eddy in swapping St Austell for Helston last summer.

Brokenshire, who scored in Kernow's inaugural game against a Foxhole Stars XI, scored four goals in 32 games for Truro City in their 2013/14 Southern League campaign after signing from Bodmin Town at the start of the season.

Brokenshire then joined St Austell before returning to Bodmin in 2017, only to rejoin the Lillywhites in 2018.

Cam Turner - Bodmin Town

Position: Midfielder

Kernow FA caps: 1

Kernow FA goals: 1

Another ex-Cornwall youth player, Turner enjoyed a successful development with Newquay before being signed by Kernow boss Gilbert for Bodmin last summer.

Turner popped up on the scoresheet on his sole Kernow appearance so far, opening the scoring with a fine free kick in their 5-0 win over Barawa last May.

Hayden Turner - Mousehole

Position: Midfielder

Kernow FA caps: 1

Kernow FA goals: 0

Turner has been one of the sharpest shooters in the SWPL this season, scoring 34 goals for St Austell and Mousehole, having swapped the former for the latter in December.

Turner had not long returned to St Austell that summer after a short spell at Newquay, swapping Mount Wise for Poltair Park after a pre-season trial at Truro City.

Harry Evans - ECU Joondalup

Position: Midfielder

Kernow FA caps: 0

Kernow FA goals: 0

Evans is currently on the books at Australian club ECU Joondalup of the National Premier Leagues Western Australia, the second tier of Australian football behind the A-League, after scoring a combined seven goals in 22 games for rival clubs Inglewood United and Armadale last season.

Evans started his time in Cornish senior football with Truro City and Falmouth Town before moving to St Austell in 2014, scoring 35 times in 2016/17 before moving to Bodmin the following season. There he scored 16 goals in 28 games to secure a switch to Tiverton Town in 2018.

Josh Grant - Tavistock

Position: Forward

Kernow FA goals: 0

Tavistock forward Grant is one of three squad members currently plying their trade in the Western League.

Grant was top-scorer in the SWPL Premier with 34 goals last season as Tavvy beat Exmouth Town to the title, and those goals earned him a move to Southern League side Taunton Town, although he has since returned to Tavistock to assist the Lambs' promotion bid, scoring 14 times in 26 matches.

Dan Jennings - Bodmin Town

Position: Forward

Kernow FA caps: 1

Kernow FA goals: 4

Jennings has been a prolific scorer in the SWPL in recent seasons, scoring 27 goals for Wadebridge Town in Division 1 West last season, and has netted 18 goals for Bodmin so far this term.

He scored four goals in Kernow's 10-3 thrahsing of the Chagos Islands in his sole Kernow appearance back in August.

Mark Goldsworthy - Helston Athletic

Position: Forward

Kernow FA caps: 4

Kernow FA goals: 6

Goldsworthy is the only player to have scored more SWPL goals than Turner this season, having bagged 36 goals for league leaders Helston this season.

Goldsworthy has scored a combined 330 SWPL goals for Helston and former club St Austell and was top scorer in SWPL Division 1 West each season between 2012 and 2015.

Goldworthy is also Kernow's record scorer, scoring six times in four games, including a hat-trick against the Chagos Islands.

Andy Watkins - Bath City

Position: Forward

Kernow FA caps: 0

Kernow FA goals: 0

Perhaps the biggest name in the Kernow squad, Watkins boasts a wealth of experience within the English National League System.

The 34-year-old joined Truro in 2006 and played in the club's FA Vase triumph the following year, scoring 143 goals in 295 games and enjoying two promotions to the Conference South before joining Bath City in 2013, scoring 56 goals in 204 games throughout his seven seasons at Twerton Park.
