Southern League Premier South: Swindon Supermarine 1-3 Truro City

A brace from Will Swan and a penalty from Tyler Harvey gave the White Tigers the three points in comfortable fashion despite the hosts pulling one back at 0-2.

A week after their frustrating 0-1 home reverse to highflying Chesham United, the tough fixtures continued for Paul Wotton’s men as they travelled to Wiltshire to face a Swindon side that were on a run of 11 games without defeat.

It was a slow start to the encounter with both teams seeing a lot of possession but failing to create any chances of note from it.

Truro had the first meaningful attempt as Will Dean saw a half volley pushed away by the Swindon keeper Horsell.

Connor McDonagh then came close for the hosts as he drilled a shot against the near post with 35 minutes on the clock.

That missed chance came back to haunt Swindon as Will Swan was played through and slotted past Horsell to open the scoring after a slip from the keeper to punish the hosts just before the interval.

It took the striker just seven minutes in the second half to get his and Truro’s second.

He chased down a long ball and shrugged off the pressure of the hosts full back before turning and curling a shot into the far bottom corner to give Wotton’s side real daylight in the game.

Completely against the run of play Swindon were able to pull one back. After a foul, the referee let play on as the Truro backline switched off. Ryan Campbell took full advantage and saw an effort fly into the top corner past Hamon for 1-2.

There was to be no late dramatic comeback though as the Ed Palmer was pulled down in the area after a clear foul.

A penalty was awarded, and Tyler Harvey did what he does best as he finished with aplomb to wrap up a big three points and move the White Tigers back to the top of the league.
