FALMOUTH Town will begin the defence of their Cornwall Senior Cup crown at home to local rivals Helston Athletic.

The tie will be played over the weekend of Saturday, November 9.

It will be the fifth time the rivals have met in a cup competition in as many seasons, with the most recent cup clash coming just three days ago, when Town thrashed the Blues 5-1 at their Kellaway Park home in the first round proper of the FA Vase.

The teams have also met in the Walter C Parson League Cup in three of the past four seasons, with Town winning in 2018 and 2017 and Helston triumphing in 2015.

Town won the Senior Cup for the first time in 22 years back in April with a 2-1 win over Saltash United at Bodmin Town's Priory Park, when goals from Joe Cooper and James Ward cancelled out Ryan Richards' early strike for the Ashes.

Porthleven will welcome Wadebridge Town to Gala Parc in their third-round tie.

The Fishermen, who won 4-1 at the Bridgers in the league back in August, will be hoping to better last year's campaign, when they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by local rivals Wendron United.

The Dron enjoyed their best-ever Senior Cup campaign last season, with the victory over Porthleven sealing their spot in the semi-finals for the first time ever, where they lost to Saltash.

They will start this year's tournament at Callington Town, where the Dron lost 5-1 in the league a couple of weeks ago.

Penryn Athletic's reward for negotiating the first two rounds of the tournament is a trip to fellow St Piran League West side St Ives Town.

The tie will be a repeat of last year's second-round tie, with Athletic, who beat Perranwell and Bude Town in the previous rounds, winning 2-1 on that day on their way to reaching the last 16, before exiting at the hands of Saltash.

Mullion have been handed the task of upsetting the South West Peninsula League Premier West leaders St Austell. The Seagulls, who defeated Lanreath and Marazion in the previous rounds, will make the trip to Poltair Park to take on the 12-time winners.
