REDRUTH battled back from a 14-point deficit with just eight minutes to play to rescue a 20-20 draw at Henley in National League 2 South.

The home side led by five at the break thanks to an unconverted try after the two sides traded penalties. The Hawks added another unconverted try early in the second half before a Reds penalty reduced the arrears to 13-6.

But a converted try under the posts in the 73rd minute gave the Reds hope, with another from a driving line-out taking the scores level in the dying minutes.

Camborne's fine start to the season continued with a 24-17 win at Brixham, with their try-scoring bonus point putting them third in the South West Premier table.

Jon Semmens scored twice for the Cherry & Whites, with Harvey Bell landing the try of the game with a fine 60-metre run.

Falmouth secured a try bonus point for their efforts in going down to a 37-24 defeat at Cullompton in Western Counties West.

Rory Pugh continued his excellent try-scoring form with two more for the Eagles, with Nick Carne and Kieran Rodda also going over to seal the point.

Penryn were not quite so lucky, falling one score shy of a losing bonus as they went down to a 22-41 defeat at Wellington.

In Cornwall/Devon, Truro got back to winning ways with a 40-18 victory at home to Pirates Amateurs, returning to the top of the table after Plymstock Albion Oaks lost at Torquay Athletic.

Lanner enjoyed a 33-20 win at home to Liskeard-Looe to move up to third in the table, while Bude's slow start continued with a 17-19 defeat at home to Paignton.

Veor move up to ninth with a bonus-point 36-21 win at home to Tavistock.

Helston moved to the top of Cornwall 2 with a 39-5 win at Camelford, while Stithians enjoyed a 66-17 win at home to bottom side Redruth Albany.

The Cornish Pirates will begin their 2019/20 Greene King IPA Championship campaign this afternoon when they welcome Ealing Trailfinders to the Mennaye Field (kick-off 2.30pm).

The Pirates began their season with three RFU Championship Cup pool games, and sit second in the four-team Pool 3 after two wins and one defeat at the halfway stage.
