Penryn Athletic moved clear at the top of the St Piran League West with a thumping 5-1 win at home to Helston Athletic reserves on Saturday.

Ryan Reeve opened the scoring shortly before half-time when he headed home from Harry Roberts’ cross.

Roberts teed up Jack Rapsey to head in a second early in the second half before Joe Wright halved the deficit soon after.

Roberts turned from provider to scorer with 20 minutes to go to restore Penryn’s two-goal advantage with another header, before Bradley Leivers made sure of victory a couple of minutes later, with Reeve putting the icing on the cake with another late on.

Penryn have won all four games, but Mullion’s 100 per cent start was ended at home to Hayle, with Stu Nicholls scoring the only goal of the game shortly before the break.

Perranporth join Mullion on nine points after winning 5-2 at home to Mousehole reserves.

Matt Roberts, Luke Wort and Gavin Boon put Perran three goals up inside ten minutes, but JJ Simmons and Joe Davies hauled the Seagulls to within one, although late strikes from Reece Allen and Wort sealed victory.

St Agnes won 5-2 at home to Redruth United. Charlie Hawthorn and Dan Horler scored for the visitors.

Illogan RBL made it two wins in a week with a 4-2 victory at home to Ludgvan. Steve Abbott-Smith netted twice, with Robert Condie and Chris Prout scoring for the hosts.

Wendron United reserves went down 3-1 at St Ives Town, and Perranwell lost 4-0 at St Day.
