THIS game between the league’s two unbeaten sides was unfortunately as one sided as the score suggests.

As well as losing several players, including their captain Jamie Adams and vice captain Stuart Gold, to the first team Chard were hit with an injury crisis and were therefore well below strength for this match and their decimated side just could not compete on the day.

Acting skipper Clive Adams did acknowledge that Wellington were a very useful side and even with their full side Chard would have struggled to have got any thing from the game.

■ THE Somerset Three South game between Chard 3rds and Wiveliscombe 2nds was postponed because there was no referee available.

Chard Colts 15, Burnham 44 THIS was a game that Chard had targeted to win and although they scored two excellent tries in the second half they found it difficult playing without a number of their key players who were away on a pre-arranged trip.

Team manager Jim Jacobs brought in several players for their first game of the season and said his side competed well in the line-outs and rucks and stuck to their task well.

At half-time Chard trailed 20-3s with their score coming with a penalty goal from the boot of skipper Charlie Roberts.

In the second half man of the match centre Connor Stevens ran in two excellent tries one of which was converted by Roberts. Both tries were the result of good handling movements.

The game was sponsored by Wheelers transport from Bridgwater and the team are very grateful for this as it helps greatly in funding the team physio.

amongst other things.
