TEN-YEAR-OLD Chard gymnast Alana Hake took first place overall in her age group at Level 4 and won gold last Friday at the Alpha Factor UK Invitational held at the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics in Melksham.
In the individual apparatus and against 25 other girls from around the UK Alana also gained a second place on the bars and a third on the floor.
This was a particularly pleasing result for Alana as this was her first competition representing her club The Academy.
Alana moved to her new club in Portishead back in April and trains around 28 hours a week.
A special mention also goes to Manor Court Primary School who is very supportive of Alana’s gymnastics programme.
