Elsewhere in Division 2 that week, table-topping Civil Service travelled to North Petherton for a crucial match between title contenders.

The visitors won 3-0, thanks to goals from Ben Burge, Adam Cooke and Rob Allan, which meant that they had an eight-point lead at the summit.

Second-placed Pethy did, however, have three games in hand.

Sampford Blues were also in the title race, albeit needing the top two teams to slip up to keep their hopes alive.

They stayed within touching distance with a 5-0 victory over Bridgwater Sports Reserves, with Rob Mellows and Cam Nott both scoring twice, and Tom Jordan adding the fifth.

The West Somerset derby between Minehead and Watchet’s reserve sides ended in a 1-1 draw, with goals from Ross Addicott for Minehead and Callum Knight for Watchet.
