TAUNTON Vale Hockey Club’s ladies 3rd XI lined up for the camera this week in January 2016, and are pictured above.
Shown from left to right are: back row - Kate Ody, Cheryl Govier, Sam King, Ellie Slawin, Theresa Stone, Sharon Tregunna, Kelly Smith, Ange Davies, Vicky Tindall; front row - Caroline Storey, Anna Richards, Anna Kyle, Jill Hansford, Gemma Milne, Tanya Dicks.
This week also featured two hard-fought matches between Vale ladies sides and their near neighbours, Taunton Civil Service.
Civil Service 1st XI took on Vale 4ths, who had been hit by illness, injury and hospitalisation before the game got under way.
Despite a great effort from the remaining Vale players, their hosts led 1-0 at half-time and doubled their advantage soon after the break.
Rebecca Aspden got her side back into the game at 2-1, only for Civil Service to restore their two-goal lead.
Ange Warns’ reverse stick effort made it 3-2 at full-time, but they could not deny that Civil Service had deserved the win.
The match between Vale 5th XI and Civil Service 2nds finished 2-1 in the former side’s favour, thanks to goals from Evelyn Toothill and Lauren Clarke.
