TAUNTON & Pickeridge golfer Tom Sloman has won his second event on the Clutch Tour this season, writes Richard Walsh.

Sloman shot a four-under round of 66 to finish one shot ahead of the field in the Sonning Classic in Berkshire last Thursday.

It was a close-run thing right up until the 18th, where Sloman holed out with a birdie four on the 475-yard par five to finish one shot ahead of Yeovil golfer Tom Plumb, who just so happens to be the brother of his girlfriend!

This victory follows on the back of his triumph in the Clutch Tour competition at Enville Golf Club in the West Midlands, that took place at the end of August.

Currently Sloman is in second place in the Clutch Tour order of Merit, with the top three in the standings gaining free entry to the European Tour qualifying comps.

The 23-year-old, who was made an honorary member at Taunton & Pickeridge last year, now goes forward to the Clutch Tour Championships, which are taking place at Berkhamsted Golf Club on Wednesday, October 21.
