Farnborough 0, Taunton Town 1

FOR the second week running, a late Owen Howe goal sealed victory for Taunton Town as they maintained their unbeaten start to the 2020/21 season.

Howe's penalty had wrapped up a 5-3 FA Cup win away to Tiverton Town the previous weekend, and the striker did it again at the Easy as HGV Stadium on Saturday.

As well as preserving their unbeaten record so far this campaign, the Peacocks will be satisfied with having redeemed themselves in a fixture that they lost 4-0 in March - the final match before the 2019/20 season was terminated amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The first half was one of few chances, with Ollie Chamberlain coming closest to a breakthrough, but the midfielder's shot came back off the post.

The only goal of the game came in the 72nd minute, when Jamie Short's cross was converted by Howe.

Farnborough's Louis Dunne was sent off in stoppage time, having received a second yellow card, and the visitors secured all three points.

Taunton Town: Lloyd Irish, Jamie Short, Jay Foulston, Ben Adelsbury, Nick Grimes, Jake Wannell, Joe Guest, Ollie Chamberlain, Dan Sullivan, Gethyn Hill (Owen Howe 60), Toby Holmes (Lee Lucas 79). Subs not used: Dan McBeam, Jordan Copp, Ross Staley.

The Peacocks sit sixth in the Premier South standings, and this coming Tuesday they host Truro City for an FA Cup third round qualifying tie (7.45pm).
