TAUNTON’S very own running sensation, Hannah Taunton, is now the holder of a world record, after competing in the British Athletics Championships in Manchester.
She took part in the 5,000m - following an invitation from British Athletics to ‘stretch her legs’ due to there being no track races to compete in this year.
The race was broadcast live on the BBC, meaning that her fellow Taunton AC and Running Forever Running Club members could tune in and cheer her on.
This was Taunton’s first ever race at the distance on a track, where she faced an experienced field.
She ran at her own race pace, and came home in a time of 17.17.30... breaking the world record for a female T20 runner in a 5,000m event!
