Members of Hayle Runners took a trip to Looe in east Cornwall to take part in the Looe 10 mile road run, an increasingly popular race which reputedly has more steep climbing per mile than any other race in the Cornish Grand Prix series.

On the day Simon Knowles led the Hayle team home as well as taking third place in his 40-44 age group. He was closely followed by Neil Hayhurst who had a great run on his club debut.

Melody Manners led the Hayle women, taking second place in her under 35 age group and just ahead of her mum, Debbie Harrison Webb, who won her 50-54 age group.

Simon Knowles was pleased with the day's work, saying: "Although we were a smaller team than usual due to marathon training runs the team did really well on the hills around Looe and the weather was good to us, so a good day all around.

"Next up is the Falmouth Half Marathon on March 15 when we are expecting a large turnout from the club."
