Hayle Runners training programmes were impacted significantly by Storm Dennis over the weekend with cancellations of a number of sporting fixtures, including some Park Runs, due to the high winds.

Fortunately the strong winds eased slightly to allow the Bodmin Half Marathon to take place on Sunday morning even though a large part of the route is through the National Trust's Lanhydrock estate. A sizeable group of Hayle Runners took part in the race, which is part of the Cornwall Multi-terrain Grand Prix.

The team seemed to enjoy the event despite getting very wet describing the undulating course as brutal.

Many of the club were envious of their colleague Mike Baldwin who was flying the flag for Hayle Runners at the Barcelona half marathon. Mike enjoyed the atmosphere and the pleasantly warm weather, finishing in one hour and 55 minutes.

Hayle Runners' own race, the Duchy 20 mile road race, is only two weeks away. With a start and finish at the Penventon Hotel in Redruth the race is popular with many runners, both locally based and further afield who are training for spring marathons. Details of how to enter online can be found on Hayle Runners Facebook page.
