TAUNTON host their Sunday Meeting this weekend when the first of the seven races on the card - which has a prize pot of over £64,000 - goes to post at 1.35pm.

With 73 horses declared, the going soft to heavy in places and dry weather forecast it looks like being another cracking day of National Hunt action for local punters to enjoy.

Leading trainers Paul Nicholls, Philip Hobbs, Nigel Twiston-Davies, Colin Tizzard and Jeremy Scott are all represented and many of the top jockeys including Tom Scudamore, Sam Twiston-Davies, Bryony Frost, Aidan Coleman and Jamie Moore are booked to ride.

The most valuable race on the card is The SouthWest Racing Club Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 3) over two miles and seven furlongs, which has a £14,200 on offer in prizes and is due off at 15.40pm.

Three horses look to be in contention for the big race - Darling Maltaix from the Nicholls yard, Shoal Bay from the Tizzard’s stable and Shanroe in Milan trained by Charlie Longsdon.

Later in the card another horse to look out for is Tactical Manoeuvre in the 4.10pm who will be looking to follow up his win at Taunton 15 days ago.

To take advantage of up to 40% discount purchase tickets on-line in advance before noon on the day prior to racing, in addition to which accompanied under-18s get free admission and there is plenty of free parking available.

Gates open at 11.35am and a courtesy coach service departs from the main entrance to Taunton Railway Station (Platform 5) 90 minutes before the first and returns from the course half an hour after the start of the final race.
