ASH Rangers Ladies were the dream team last weekend, winning a Somerset FA tournament on the Saturday and claiming an 8-0 league victory on Sunday.

The Ash team - Rhiannon Butterfield, Laura Currie, Laura Entwhistle, Ella Hewton, Harriet Kelly, Amy Lang and Nat Price - were one of several sides to take part in the Somerset FA’s first Women’s Small Sided Series event in Yeovil.

The Taunton women ended the five-a-side tournament unbeaten, despite facing players from teams higher up the league pyramid.

Ash defeated Pen Mill Ladies, Pen Mill Reserves, Broadmead A and Weston College, and drew with Broadmead B.

That secured them overall top spot, and the silverware.

The next day saw Ash travel to Wellington for a Somerset County Women’s League Division 1 fixture, and there was no sign of tiredness from the visitors.

A dominant performance produced an 8-0 victory, largely thanks to a Vivianne Miedema-esque display from Butterfield, who ended the afternoon with five goals.

Currie chipped in with two goals and Kelly, on as a substitute, got the other one.

Ash sit fourth in the Division 1 standings, going into this coming Sunday’s home game against Burnham United (2pm), and they are still looking for additional players.

The team play their home matches at Blackbrook Pavilion, and welcome any women over the age of 16.
