Bridgwater Town v Exmouth Town - Les Phillips Cup quarter-final postponed

A new date for the match will be announced in due course.

The Robins were looking to right the wrongs of Saturday's home defeat to Shepton Mallet, a defeat which has left co-manager Dave Pearse bemoaning his side's inconsistency.

Having been in and around the top four all season - and set a pre-season target of the top two - an indifferent recent run has seen Town slip to eighth.

“These are tough times at the moment," Pearse said.

“Our inconsistency has been holding us back all season and Saturday was a perfect example.

“Having played so well last Tuesday [a 4-0 win over Cadbury Heath], we looked like a completely different team on Saturday.

“I thought we were OK in the first half and we scored a great goal, but we switched off completely after half-time.

“The goals we gave away were criminal and it seemed a bit of complacency slipped into the team.

“It is so frustrating and it is keeping me awake at night - we know how good we can be, but we are not showing it on a regular basis.

"At the start of the season I was looking at our squad and thinking 'we've got a great side here'. For whatever reason, we just haven't clicked.

"It is not all doom and gloom. We are still in two cup competitions and there are still half the league games to play.

"We have to look to finish as high as we can - we have enough quality to end in the top four - and try and progress in the cups.

"We will also try and keep giving opportunities to young players. Luke Manley, Nathan Byrne and Noah Coppin have been excellent since they have come in."

With tonight's cup game postponed, Town's next match is at Buckland Athletic on Saturday.

"We didn't turn up when we played them earlier in the season," Pearse said.

"We were lucky that Harry Horton came on and scored two brilliant late goals to earn a point.

"They have a fairly new manager [Paul Froude] so their players will be out to impress.

"As ever, it will depend on which Bridgwater side turn up."
