Taunton racegoers have got an extra, seventh, race to look forward to on Tuesday afternoon when the Orchard Portman course hosts their Love Musgrove Charity Raceday.

With 73 horses declared and the going good to soft, soft in places, the opening action is now due to go to post now at 1pm.

All of the leading trainers, including Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls. Colin Tizzard, Philip Hobbs, Alan King and Jonjo O’Neill are represented and leading jockeys Richard Johnson, Nico de Boinville, Harry Cobden, Tom Scudamore and Sam Twiston-Davies are all booked to ride.

The most valuable race on the card is The Novices’ Listed Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 3) over two miles that goes to post at 2.30pm and has a prize pot of £15,300 up for grabs.

The two market leaders in the big race look likely to be Snapdragon Fire, ridden by the champion jockey Johnson for Tom Lacey, and Court Royale, trained by Evan Williams under Adam Wedge.

Two offering better value here and worth looking at are Cool Well, trained by Jamie Snowden, and Envoye Special from Nicholls’ yard ridden by Cobden.

Punters are reminded that a courtesy coach service departs from the main entrance to Taunton Railway Station (Platform 5) 90 minutes before the off, returning from the course 30 minutes after the start of the last.
