Rising star Charlie Sharland has been named the Harry Burden Young Cricketer of the Year.
The youngster has enjoyed a successful 2019, representing Somerset Under-17s, playing at the Bunbury Festival and helping Taunton Deane CC Under-15s to the national finals.
Sharland, who is now part of the Somerset academy, attends King’s College and received this award at the Harry Burden Memorial Lunch, which took place at the Cooper Associates County Ground on Thursday, December 12.
The lunch takes place every year to remember Harry, a keen young cricketer who died of leukaemia just before his eighth birthday in 1996.
The Harry Burden Bursary was awarded to Lauren Filer, who shone for Somerset Women in the summer and has been selected by Welsh Fire to play in the Women’s Hundred in 2020.
