Taunton squash and racketball player Luke Bishop has had an amazing few weeks, winning four competitions including a national title and moving back up to number two in the current UK Racketball men’s rankings.

His run of success began locally at the Somerset Men’s County Closed Squash Tournament, where he progressed to the final to play Jonathan Taubert, also from Wyvern but now based in London.

This was a good, hard-fought encounter with Luke coming out on top and winning 3-1 to secure the title for the eighth time.

Changing codes Luke entered two categories at the East Midland Racketball series and National Doubles event, held at Nottingham.

In the men’s singles he advanced to meet Ted Jeal from Kent in the final and triumphed 2-1, a result which took him up to number two in the current UK rankings.

Luke then partnered another Somerset player, Natalie Lawrence from Wellington, in the mixed doubles played on the same day.

This was the first time they had competed but went on to secure the National title with a 2-0 win against the Hertfordshire pairing of Adam Grilli and Amber Marshall.

The following day it was back down to Taunton for the Somerset Men’s Closed Racketball Tournament, where Luke beat Matt Baker 3-2 in the final.
