Middlezoy Rovers 1, Stockwood Green 1

MIDDLEZOY hosted Stockwood Green on Saturday, a team they had beaten only a few weeks before - but this time it finished honours even.

Zoy started brightly and were passing the ball around well, so there was no surprise when they took the lead 10 minutes into the game.

Jamie Temlett spread the ball out wide to find Adam Long, who cut in off his wing and finished across the keeper.

This should have been the start the hosts needed to kick on and finish the game off in the first half.

However, as the half wore on, Zoy’s play became rushed and forced as Stockwood began to believe they were still in the game.

In fact, the home side were lucky to go into half-time 1-0 up, as the Stockwood centre forward shot wide when through on goal.

Come the second period, Zoy were looking to get back to playing how they had started the first half.

But again they forced the final ball and failed to create anything clear-cut to put the game to bed.

As the half continued, the visitors still hoped they could snatch something, and that’s exactly what they did with five minutes of the match remaining.

They broke from their own half as Zoy twice failed to clear their lines, allowing the winger to put in a delightful ball for the centre forward to bundle home from six yards out.

In a game where the Zoy saw the majority of the play, they were made to pay for not finishing their opponents off, leaving the management scratching their heads as to what more they have to do, to win more games with the numerous chances that are being created but not taken.
