TAUNTON Town's friendly match against Bideford, which had been scheduled to take place tonight at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium, has been cancelled.

The decision was made following recent wet weather, and a weather warning in place for Tuesday/Wednesday, with club chairman Kevin Sturmey confirming that the pitch is saturated and could not be prepared for playing.

It means that the Peacocks have only played once in the last 10 days - a Challenge Cup tie against Truro, which saw them field a young side - with last Saturday's league game with Hartley Wintney postponed due to the latter playing in the FA Trophy.

The friendly was also set to give playing time to new signings Joe Charles, Josiah Dunstan, Jake Jackson and Owen Windsor, ahead of this coming Saturday's crunch match against Poole Town (ko 3pm).
