BRIDGWATER Town are on their travels again in the FA Vase this weekend as they head to Cornwall to take on Saltash United in the second round.

Town successfully negotiated a trip to the Isle of Wight in the first round, beating Newport 2-0, and now head to face a side sat second in South West Peninsula League Premier Division West having scored 76 goals in 15 matches this season.

Bridgwater have also been in free-scoring form this term and, on Wednesday night, advanced in the Les Phillips Cup with a 5-2 win over Odd Down.

Jack Taylor scored a hat-trick for the Robins, with Tom Ellis netting a brace.

Taylor is suspended for the weekend’s trip, however, following his sending off at Newport in the last round.

Bridgwater player-manager Dave Pearse said: “It is another trip into the unknown but we have been better away than at home recently.

“Saltash are scoring for fun in their league and will be a strong side.

"We want to go far in this competition and we will treat it as we would a big league game.”

Town are running a supporters coach for the trip, leaving Fairfax Park at 10.45am - the club are also showing the Rugby World Cup final between England and South Africa, which kicks off at 9am.

Elsewhere this weekend, Middlezoy Rovers visit Ilminster Town in the Somerset County League Premier Division.

In Division 1, Bridgwater Town Reserves travel to Saltford, while Middlezoy's second string host Hutton in Division 2.
