THE new national hunt season at Taunton Racecourse kicked off on Wednesday as racegoers returned to the Orchard Portman course.

There was an upset in the big race of the day, as 14/1 shot Borak overcame 4/5 favourite Coby Nine to take the spoils in the Invest Southwest 'Confined' Handicap Hurdle at 3.30pm.

That set the tone for the outsiders towards the end of the day, with Arquebusier (20/1) and Flying Sara (14/1) taking the honours in the final two races.

The first three races had all been won by favourites, while Minehead trainer Phillip Hobbs earned a winner with Pointed and Sharp (3/1) in the Thatchers Cider Novices' Handicap Chase at 3pm.
