Division 1
Street Reserves 2, Burnham United 1

BURNHAM United's unbeaten start to the season in Division 1 came to an end on Saturday, with defeat at Street Reserves.

In an uncharacteristic performance and a half of few chances for either team, the visitors fell behind to a glancing header from a corner, going into the half-time break 1-0 down.

United started the second half looking to get back into the game, and got their reward through Russell Holley’s second goal of the season.

However, Street scored shortly afterwards, courtesy of their winger's strike into the bottom corner, to claim all three points.

Burnham will be looking to put things right in their Somerset Senior Cup third round tie against Uphill Castle at Berrow, this coming Saturday (ko 2pm).

Division 3
Burnham United Res 7, Stockwood Green Res 2

WHILE an all-too-familiar slow start from Burnham Reserves saw visiting Stockwood Green break the deadlock, the home side showed togetherness and stuck to their gameplan.

They were duly rewarded when Tommy Clarke was on hand to finish off a dominant spell from the Seasiders.

Although Stockwood went back ahead via a deflection against the run of play, Burnham kicked on again, and Fred Berry’s delightful free-kick found the bottom corner.

Soon after, Clarke again found himself at the back post to give United the lead for the first time.

The second half started well for Burnham, with two goals from Curtis Bradshaw; the first was a smart through ball taken in his stride and finished by his right foot with aplomb, and Clarke turned provider with an inviting corner for Bradshaw’s second.

Bradshaw, again, was the goalscorer when he marched through and finished with his left to complete a perfect hat-trick.

The fine second-half display was capped off with an outswinging Clarke corner, as Cain Smith rose highest to complete the team performance of the season.
