SEREN Rodgers, of The Castle School, has been selected to represent England at the Home International Pentathlon Championships in Glasgow next month.
It follows a year of successes for the Taunton prospect, including her recent England Athletics South West Field Junior Athlete of the Year award, having won a silver medal at the National Combined Events Championships.
Rodgers is hot on the trail of heptathlete Katrina Johnson-Thompson, who clinched gold for Team GB at the World Championships last week, breaking the British record.
Castle head teacher Sarah Watson said: “Seren is doing brilliantly in athletics and has a fantastic career ahead of her.
"Not only is she is impressive as an athlete, and an inspiration to younger students, but she is also a very kind and generous person.
“She has a great athletic future ahead of her, and we all have fingers and toes crossed for her here at The Castle School.”
