Toolstation Western League Premier Division

Wellington 0, Exmouth Town 2

WELLINGTON welcomed their highest crowd for a number of seasons but slipped back to the foot of the Western League Premier Division table after a home defeat against Exmouth on Sunday afternoon.

The match rounded off the 'Western League groundhop' weekend and 315 were present at North Street, including some overseas visitors, to see the Tangerines take on their Devonian visitors.

Wellington goalkeeper Tom Welch survived a heart-in-mouth moment early on when his kick was charged down by Jordan Harris but the ball rolled wide.

Harris did not have to wait too long to break the deadlock, cutting inside and finding the net on 32 minutes.

Three minutes before the break, Ace High played in Aaron Denny to double Exmouth's lead.

Welch made two fine saves in the second half but Wellington's chances of getting back into the game received a blow when Josh Wadham was sent off for his reaction to a yellow card for dissent.

Sam Bryant and Conor Bryant came close for the hosts towards the end but Exmouth saw out the clean sheet to return with the points.
