Toolstation Western League
Premier Division
Wellington 0, Bridgwater Town 3

WELLINGTON were unable to record back-to-back league wins, as Bridgwater Town moved into second spot with a victory which left their hosts at the foot of the table.

This was the Tangerines’ first home league game of the season, but they were outclassed by a more experienced visiting side.

After Steve Murray had missed two early chances for Bridgwater, and Jack Bryant had seen a daisycutter saved by Jake Viney at the other end, the away team broke the deadlock on 32 minutes.

Murray’s shot was kept out by Mitch Woodgate, but the rebound fell for Jack Taylor to tap in.

It remained 1-0 at half-time, but only after Viney had done well to flick away Ian Bellinger’s dangerous cross, with Bryant ready to pounce in the goalmouth.

Bridgwater doubled their lead on the hour, as Murray lobbed Woodgate and Taylor nodded into the net.

And they wrapped it up with 10 minutes left, as Josh Pearson fouled Jake Brown in the box, and Jake Llewellyn netted the penalty.

Wellington – who were knocked out of the Les Phillips Cup the previous Wednesday, losing 3-0 at home to Roman Glass St George – go to Westbury United on Saturday (ko 3pm) and then host Tavistock the following Wednesday (7.45pm).
