THIS year marks Bridgwater Swimming Club’s 125th anniversary, and the club held a summer barbecue event to celebrate reaching that milestone.

The swimmers had fun in Quantock Lodge pool, followed by team building exercises, and they were honoured to have Paralympian Jo Frith as a guest.

Frith is a former club swimmer and coach, who has gone on to win gold and silver medals in archery at the Rio Paralympics.

The swimmers loved hearing from her about her experiences, and seeing her medals and Vinicius mascot.

Bridgwater’s swimmers are now looking forward to taking part in the National Swimming League, which starts up once again in October.

The first round is in Bodmin, Cornwall, which will be a new experience for all involved.

The club is looking for sponsors for travel to these galas, which offer a great opportunity for the swimmers to be part of a team.

They also enable them to learn about competitiveness, see bigger clubs in action, and give them a sense of achievement.
