WEST Monkton are champions of the West Somerset League.

They won the Division 1 title by crushing Stogumber by 151 runs after bowling them out for just 53.

The Monks posted 204, then Dave Baverstock (6-35) and John Salter (4-13) got to work on Stogumber.

Wivey finished runners-up, despite beating Ashbrittle by nine wickets.

Brittle were all out for 153, Harry Welch taking 5-35, then Tom Welch top scored with 53 as Wivey coasted home.

Bishop’s Hull hit 247-9 at home to North Curry, then bowled them out for 55, Liam Redrup taking 6-25 including a hat-trick.

The Bishop’s top scorer was Matt Chanter, unbeaten on 60.

In Division 2, leaders Brompton Ralph can still be caught by Over Stowey after they lost to their rivals by 31 runs.

Stowey hit 200 as Stuart Duerden hit 65 and Kieran Barrow 53, despite Rob Hake taking 6-37.

Then, Ralph were all out for 169, Jack Rich taking 4-43.

Nick Hill hit 80 as Timberscombe beat Morebath by 50 runs, bowling them out for 119. Lydeard St Lawrence beat Stoodleigh by three wickets, chasing down 152.

Roadwater travelled to Sampford Arundel and enjoyed a 65-run win after posting 192-7.

Stoke St Mary took advantage of Division 3 leaders Winsford’s slip-up to beat Cannington by 127. Richard Hingston hit 60 as the Saints posted 250-8, then bowled out Cannington for 133.

Winsford suffered a shock 65-run defeat to Minehead, who hit 159-4, Will Langslowe hitting 61no.

North Curry Saints beat Hemyock by 49 runs after R. Wood’s 86 took them to 270-7.

K. Slater was unbeaten on 98 for the losers.

Carl Hooper hit 120no as Dulverton posted 202-5, then bowled out Taunton for 149.

Division 4 Leaders West Monkton 2nds suffered a surprise three-wicket defeat at Culmstock after being bowled out for 126.

C. Shapland was two short of his century as he saw Huish Champflower to 227-5 and victory at Fitzhead, who had T. Westcott on 81.

Stogumber 2nds carried off the Division 5 title in style with a 114-run win at home to Ashbrittle 2nds.

The home side posted 270-3 as James Rexworthy (90no), Stuart Thorne (70no) and Andy Hayes (70) cut loose.

Then Rexworthy took 6-4 to dismiss Ashbrittle.

Mark Chanter hit 79 for Bishop’s Hull 2nds but it was not enough to save his side from a two-wicket defeat at Brompton Ralph 2nds, who replied with 190-8.
