TAUNTON Town go in search of their first points, and first goals, of the season as they welcome Chesham United to the Cygnet Health Care Stadium tomorrow (ko 3pm).

The Peacocks' start to the 2019/20 Bet Victor Southern League Premier Division South season has been dreadful, there's no denying that.

A 3-0 opening day defeat at Gosport Borough was followed by a 4-0 humbling at home to Yate Town on Wednesday, so Taunton are hoping it proves to be third time lucky tomorrow.

Standing in their way are a side who have won both of their opening two matches – 2-0 at home to Salisbury and 3-1 at Beaconsfield.

Taunton boss Rob Dray said: "I had them [Chesham] watched on Tuesday night, and got a good report on them.

“It will be a tough game; they’ve recruited well, and were the form team in the league after Christmas last year.”

The Generals finished 10th in the Premier Division South table last season, after a poor start and a strong finish.

They have carried that momentum into the 2019/20 season, boosted by the signing of Dernell Wynter, who has scored three goals in those two games.

Joint managers James Duncan and Michael Murray, appointed in October 2018, were able to re-sign the bulk of last season’s squad, and have also brought in several players with experience of Steps 2 and 3 in the Non-League Pyramid.

Wynter came in from Potters Bar, having previously played for Braintree and St Albans, and his fellow forward Karl Oliyde brings experience from Hampton & Richmond and Hemel Hempstead.

Centre-back Mark Kirby has come in following spells with Barnet, Enfield Town and Haringey Borough.

Veteran striker Jefferson Louis (he’s 38!) was last year’s top scorer.

Louis has played for 37 clubs, including Bristol Rovers, Mansfield Town and Oxford United, and also played for Dominica in a World Cup qualifier in 2008.

Taunton will be missing Ollie Chamberlain for tomorrow's game, due to him being sent off last Saturday, but fellow midfielder Ryan Brett played for 35 minutes against Yate as he works towards full fitness.

The Peacocks announced this evening that they have agreed a three-month loan deal for 19-year-old Exeter City midfielder Harry Kite.

Kite signed professional terms with the Grecians in February 2018, and has made two appearances for the first team in the Football League Trophy.
