BURNHAM United made the perfect start to their 2019/20 County League season, with three points at home to Saltford on Saturday.

Two goals for Tyrese Stewart proved the difference, with Charlie Harding also scoring for the hosts.

Aaron Messenger and Christopher Courtney were on target for Saltford in an exciting, closely-fought encounter at Cassis Close.

United are at home again this coming Saturday, with Winscombe the visitors (ko 3pm).

Winscombe were beaten in their opening match, 3-2 at home to Timsbury Athletic.


BURNHAM United Reserves had been due to play away to Cutters Friday on Saturday, but that County League Division 3 match did not take place and has been moved to Saturday, October 5 instead.

United Reserves are due to go to league newcomers Bishops Lydeard Reserves this Saturday (3pm).

Lydeard won their opener last weekend, 2-0 at Draycott.
