CHARD-BORN goalkeeper Ben Hamer is set to link up with former England captain Wayne Rooney this season, having moved to Derby County on loan.
Hamer, 31, played seven times for Huddersfield Town in the Premier League last season, after joining from Leicester City last July.
Scott Carson departed Championship club Derby for Manchester City, and so the Rams have moved to bring in Hamer on a season-long loan deal.
As well as being managed by former Barcelona, PSV and Netherlands midfielder Phillip Cocu, Hamer will be working with ex-Manchester United star Rooney from the start of next year.
It was announced earlier this week that Rooney will join Derby as a player-coach in January, coming in from MLS side DC United.
The 33-year-old has joined the Rams on an 18-month contract.
Hamer will also have the opportunity to train under ex-Newcastle United and Republic of Ireland keeper Shay Given, who also holds a coaching role at the club.
