West of England Premier League
Premier 2 Bristol/Somerset
Midsomer Norton 254-6 beat Ilminster 180 by 74 runs

THREE wickets apiece for Chris Hampshire and Paul Robbins spelled defeat for Ilminster away to Midsomer Norton on Saturday.

The visitors elected to field first upon winning the toss, but openers Robbins (18) and John Carroll (28) made it to 50 before the former was bowled by Keelan Ashby (1-29 off six).

James Thompson (2-31 off 10) then removed Carroll without another run being added, and then he accounted for Martin Cox (4).

But Caleb Rowe (65) and Jake Rowe (66) got the hosts back on track, and with Nick Pang adding 32 and Josh Sutton 26no, Norton made 254-6.

The chase had an indifferent start, with Gary Filer (2-27 off nine) removing George Hayward (6) and Ashby (1) to leave the visitors on 24-2.

Louis Kraucamp (47) and Sam Spurway (44) fought back, and then Charlie Vickery (33no) and Matt Davis (23) hauled their side up to 164-5.

But then Hampshire (3-10 off 2.3) and Robbins (3-19 off four) wreaked havoc on the lower order, with Vickery left high and dry as Ilminster crashed to 180 all out.

This Saturday sees Ilminster host Weston-super-Mare (12.30pm).
