ENMORE Park’s Avalon Seniors team took a step nearer a semi-final spot with a 4-1 home win against Isle of Wedmore last Thursday.

Mike Rossiter and Martyn Westbury got them off to a solid start with an early victory, and Phil Hodge and club captain Paul Martin soon followed suit.

Chris Marsh and Paul Henson sealed victory on the 17th, leaving Roy Tomlins and Martin Peakman to save the visitors’ blushes with a win in game four.

Steve James and Bob Kippen delivered more points for Enmore in the last match, and they now lead the North Division by 24 points.

The Ladies Invitation Day at Enmore Park, when members invite friends to play with them from other clubs, was once again well supported and saw seven teams competing.

Seven teams entered and the winners with 47 points were Jackie Woodman (EPGC) and her partner Pam Akers from Oake Manor GC.

The runners-up with 46 points were Nanette Moore (EPGC) and her partner Kristin Hickey from Harborne Golf Club, Birmingham

Prizes were awarded for places one to five, nearest the pin silver division, nearest the pin bronze division, best front nine holes score, best back nine holes score and twos.

On Sunday at Enmore, a hard-fought battle between the men and ladies for the Kinnersley Trophy took place.

The ladies (the defending champions) lost 5-2 after some very close matches. A meal and presentation took place following the match.

Ladies: Wendy Walker, Judy Hancock, Sally Dymock, Sue Hales, Jane Driver, Pat Rodgers and Sarah Rendell.
