Enmore Park hosted a Charity Golf Day in support of St Margaret's Hospice last week which involved 23 teams and raised almost £2,000.

The Charity Day was organised by Sheila Bowden in conjunction with St Margaret’s Hospice personnel.

The winning men's team was Craig Lazenby, Bob Shorthouse and Andy Atkinson.

The winning Ladies team was Ruth Maclennan, Julie Blumgart and Wendy Walker (Lady Captain).

Enmore Park Ladies took part in a Bowmaker competition, at the end of which it was Penny Parker, Marilyn Turrell and immediate past lady captain Jackie Bull who were the winners with 84 points.

In second place, two points behind, were Wendy Walker, the current lady captain, Paula Travis and Annette Milroy with.

The nine-hole qualifier was won by Miriam Batchelor.

Mike Rossiter’s Avalon Seniors had to content themselves with a third away draw of the season at Tall Pines last Monday, knowing they should have gone one better.

Chris Price and Steve James lost the first match, then Mike Rossiter and Rob Fear frittered away an early lead and lost on the 18th.

Keith Miller and Paul Henson were never in trouble in their win, but although Martyn Clapp and Pip Miller were ahead for most of their game, they could only watch as Tall Pines captain Mark Hewlett parred the last to salvage a half.

Andy Chambers and Wayne Hawley delivered a win in the final game to ensure Enmore came away with a 2.5-2.5 draw.

On a sparkling first day of July, the seniors travelled down the M5 to play Teignmouth, and gave a creditable performance to lose by just one match.

It looked all up for the away team after match six but the final two pairs came good, making the result 4.5-3.5 in the home team’s favour.

Enmore’s winners were Graham Croucher and John Newell (4&3), Mike Sullivan and Chris Topps (2&1) and Jeff Saunders with Doug Read (1 up), while Keith Norcutt and David Pascoe halved.

On another brilliantly sunny day, the seniors of Enmore Park entertained their local rivals from Taunton & Pickeridge.

In a seven-match contest, Enmore used home advantage to win 4.5-2.5.

John Earp with Ken Hunt (2&1), captain Steve Lukins with Kevin Lewis (3&1), Peter Farnell with Keith Calvert (4&3), Jim Potticary with Tim Smith (3&2) were all winners, while Paul Waplington with Mike Sullivan halved their match.

Enmore A travelled to Burnham-on-Sea, winning 3-2.
