A BIG field of 64 players ranging from pub player through to PDC professional tour players entered the inaugural Chard Town FC Thatcher's Cider Darts Challenge Cup at the Dening Sports Ground.

The preliminary stages were played on a Round Robin basis, playing on eight boards.

The 32 qualifiers then entered the knockout stages where the darts was top quality.

Steve Earley, from Poole, had the highest finish of the day with a check-out of 150.

The highest finishing lady player was Sarah Chick.

The final was contested between David Stubbs, a regular on the circuit for many years and the charismatic Mark Fisher from Chard.

Played over the best of 11 legs, Fisher ran out a comfortable winner by 6-2.

It was a great day and thoroughly enjoyed by all concerned.

A massive thank you to Thatchers, TP Timber Products, Pinewood Cars, Eco Electrix, Papergami, TP Awards, Jason Garden Services, West Country Butchers & Boss Hogs for sponsoring the competition.
