TEAM BTC’s annual sports awards evening took place on May 17 at the McMillan Theatre.

Josh Gould, a former Sport & Exercise Science student who has recently signed a new one-year contract at Championship outfit Swansea City, was the guest of honour to present the awards.

Highlights of the evening included the Luke Buckingham Coach of the Year award, which was presented to Gareth Lewis by Luke’s family, Holly, Gill and Bob Buckingham.

Athlete of the Year was awarded to Luke Manley.

In his first season at College he has represented the Men’s 1st team, the Under-18s who compete on a Saturday in the South West Counties League, Somerset, Taunton Town FC and also the England Colleges FA.

His on-field ability has also been recognised throughout the year and Tom has played in the Under 18s national Premiership throughout this season with Bristol Bears, a professional Premiership rugby club academy.

Team BTC Manager Jamie Laird said: "It was another fantastic evening to celebrate all of or students’ success both individually and as a team.

"A big thank you to assistant principal Jason Gunningham for hosting the evening.
