THIS Saturday sees a John McErlain XI take on a Luke Buckingham XI, in aid of blood cancer research charity Bloodwise.

The fundraising match will kick off at noon at Burnham United AFC’s Cassis Close ground and there will be plenty of fun activities at the ground for families to enjoy.

Among those expected to play are Bridgwater Town’s co-manager Dave Pearse and Reserves manager Mo Hopkins, as well as goalkeeper Josh Gould, who recently secured a one-year extension at Championship side Swansea City.

There are four McErlains in the opposing squad, the late John McErlain having been a popular first team manager at Burnham United.

As well as the football action, there will be a bar, barbecue, cake stall, children’s activities and a raffle – with prizes including signed shirts from Bristol City and Swansea City.

A ‘penalty pairs’ competition, set to take place after the full time whistle, is also guaranteed to provide some competitive fun among those taking part.
