South West England Schools Under-15s

Worrall Shield final

Taunton & District 2, West Cornwall 1

TWO first-half goals were enough to bring Taunton & District Schools FA the Worrall Shield, in a hard-won victory over West Cornwall at Newton Abbott.

Taunton opened on the front foot with wingers Kaine Savery and Sully McKenna causing problems for the opposition.

The first goal was scored after nine minutes when Callum Chivers fed Savery, who calmly lobbed the advancing goalkeeper.

Ten minutes later it was 2-0, after an effort from Jacob Schock took a deflection and McKenna reacted quickest to fire home.

However, West Cornwall hit back before the break, reducing the arrears after latching on to a poor clearance from Taunton.

The second half provided a series of missed chances for both sides but Taunton’s defence held firm to take home the shield in fine style.
