VIVARY Ladies joined the Seniors for a Greensomes Competition on May 3.

This was a very enjoyable event on a dry sunny day, followed by a curry in the clubhouse.

The winners were Julia Cootes and Ted Lemon, while second place went to ladies captain Ruth Crooks and seniors captain John Fisher.

Third place went to Pam Shuttleworth and David Beale.

TAUNTON and Pickeridge Golf Club held its rearranged Pickeridge Cup - a 4 ball better ball competition on Saturday.

A full field enjoyed a great day on a superbly presented course at the end of which it was Ryan Aspinall and Martin Short with 42 points who were the winners.

Two pairs returned with 41 points but, after countback, it was Jeff Dyke and Pete Snell who edged into second place ahead of Mark Langford and Ian Thresher.

On Tuesday, the Ladies’ Section played two competitions.

The Silver Division played a medal competition with the winner going forward to play at the Somerset Ladies’ County Golf Association Silver Open Meeting at Farrington Park Golf Club in August.

The Ladies in the Bronze Division played a stableford competition with the winner of which goes to play for the Barlow Cup at the Somerset Ladies’ County Golf Association Bronze Open Meeting to be held at Wheathill Golf Club in August.

Gill Shire was the winner in the Silver Division with net 73, three shots ahead of second-placed Mary Guy while Heather Crump was third with 77.

Janet Kingston, with 36, was the winner of the Bronze Division, two ahead of second-placed Sue Holloway with 34. Jan Hill was third with 33 and Anna Rees fourth after countback on 32.

Twos were recorded by Heather Crump and Corinne Lyon.

Last week, the Ladies played the second of three qualifiers for their Ladies’ Pro Am Team, at the end of which it was Georgia Richards the winner with 36, Janet Kingston was second with 34 and Gill Shire third after countback with 32.

Twos were recorded by Anne George, Mary Guy, Judy Powell and Mary-Jo Shepherd.

CLAIRE Tough was the clear winner of the Ladies Sunday Stableford Competition at Oake Manor.

Tough scored 32 points, which put her clear of second placed Suzanne Reed - Jill Loader was third with 25.

Mark Tydings scored 38 points to win the Men’s Sunday Stableford Competition.

Michael Andrews was second in Division 1, also with 38, Sam Loader was third with 37 just beating his Dad, Ian Loader, who was fourth with 36.

Brian Davis won Division 2 with 37 points, Roger Goodman was second also with 37, Joseph Holmes was third with 35 and Dennis Lumley was fourth also with 35.

Ian Ramus won the Seniors Monday Stableford Competition with an excellent 41 points.

John Phripp was second in Division 1 with 40, Robert Clarke came third with 39 and Jeff Copp was fourth with 38.

Richard Harries won Division 2 scoring 37 points, Ian Hockey was second also on 37, Bob Sanders was third with 36 and Tony Ford was fourth, also with 36.

Rosemary Webber won the Ladies Tuesday Stableford Competition scoring 35 points.

In Division 1, the next three ladies all scored 31 but on coun back Janet Howe was second, Liz How was third and Bev King came fourth.

Pam Kinnear won Division 2 scoring 33 points, ladies captain Ros Shepherd was second with 31, Pepita Verge was third with 25 and Gill Nichols was fourth also with 25.
