UNBEATEN Pawel Augustynik retained his perfect record with a second-round knockout of Serbia's Robert Halas in Torquay on Saturday night, writes Marc Gatford.

It was a third straight win within the distance for the Taunton prospect, who delivered a powerful and composed finish.

The contest ended mid-way through the second stanza following a full-blooded uppercut to the body which floored the Serbian veteran.

All of Augustynik's good work came from his jab, which also nullified his opponent's offence throughout.

Salas had amassed a three-fight winning streak before becoming Augustynik's ninth straight victim.

Augustynik said: "I wanted that stoppage for my fantastic travelling support who created some great noise for me.

"These people take the time out of their lives and pay their hard earned money to support my career, and I couldn't be more grateful.

"Respect to my opponent, he came to win. He was in excellent shape but I felt I was a level above in there.

"I'm feeling strong and settled under the lights and I'm edging closer to a really big night for Somerset boxing and for everyone who comes out for me."

Augustynik also thanked his sponsors for their continued support: P&P auto services, Growth Technology, Rest & Relax - Sports & Holistic Massage Therapies, Knr scaffolding, Taunton training centre, Intense Nutrients Ltd, Activate Fitness Taunton, The Inner Garden
