THE Castle School is delighted with the news that its Year 11 netball team have won the county championships at Millfield School, earlier this month.

This means that they have been county champions for five years consecutively, and have actually never been beaten in their school netball careers!

They played incredible netball and, most importantly, conducted themselves in a superb manner; they had some tough games but they were so focused and determined to win.

Despite being so competitive in matches, they also showed great sportsmanship and teamwork.

The team is made up of Ellie, Ella, Jess, Jess, Eve, Libby, Chloe, Myla and Fern, and they are pictured above (on the back row), with the Year 8 and Year 9 teams from The Castle School, who were also competing in the county championships at Millfield.

The Year 8 side finished second in their competition, and the Year 9 team emulated the Year 11s by also finishing top of the podium, making it two county championship titles for the school.

The school is very proud of its PE department, all of its staff working incredibly hard to offer students coaching across a range of sports.

One of those staff members, PE teacher Mrs Sarah James, has recently been selected to play hockey for the England Masters hockey squad at the Europeans in Rotterdam at the end of July.
