SOUTH Petherton are just a point from the Premier title after beating nearest challengers Winsham Utd in a showcase clash in front of over 100 spectators at The Rec on Saturday.

Goals from Charlie Berrington and Danny Rendell were just enough to take the points as Jay Stewart replied for the visitors.

With Farway Utd losing 3-1 at West & Middle Chinnock, it means Petherton need a point from their last three games to claim the championship.

Barrington picked up a point at Pymore following a 2-2 draw. The visitors scored through Adam Smith and David Smith but a battling performance from Pymore saw them reply through Alex Goodrick and Matt Gore.

Chard Utd drew 1-1 at home to Shepton Beauchamp and Misterton beat Merriott Rovers 2-1.

Division 1 leaders Waytown Hounds wobbled at Hawkchurch, salvaging a 3-3 draw to leave the door open to Thorncombe, who were on cup duty.

Tom Rutland (2) and John Kingston were on target for the Hounds.

Contenders Perry Street Res also slipped up, losing 3-1 at home to Uplyme.

Billy Sheahan scored for the home side but two from Harvey Brimicombe and another from Alexander Jones saw the visitors to a surprise victory.

The bottom two battled it out, with Netherbury edging a five-goal encounter.

In Division 2, South Petherton Res are still looking to make it a club title double with a 2-0 win at Ilminster Town A, Josh Bellew on target for them.

Charmouth kept in touch, beating Crewkerne Rangers Res 5-2, Michael Calverley and Scott Isaacs scoring for the Rangers.

Chard Rangers won 1-0 at Forton Rangers Res, while Chard Utd Res beat visitors Kingsbury Episcopi 2-1.

Lyme Regis Rovers moved to within a point of leaders Winsham Res with a 9-2 win at home to Crewkerne Rangers Res.

Peter Peacock and Declan Ellis hit hat-tricks, while Oliver Alner and Toby Fowler were also on target.

Ilminster Town B are still hovering in third as they won 5-3 at home to Chard Rangers Res.

Farway Utd Res and Netherbury Res drew 1-1, while Thorncombe beat Combe A 3-1, who had Jack Dickenson on target.

Ilminster Town Res will meet Forton Rangers in the final of the Daisy Hutchings Cup.

Forton triumphed over visitors Crewkerne Rangers 3-1, Josh James scoring for Rangers.

Ilminster, meanwhile, won 6-3 after extra time against Thorncombe.
