RESIDENTS are being asked for their say through a public consultation by Post Office Ltd on the relocation of Bridgwater’s post office to Sainsbury’s.

Post Office Ltd today announced the consultation on its proposal to move the current temporary post office to a new site in Sainsbury’s Supermarket, The Clink.

Post Office spokesman Tony Jones said: “The Post Office has been working hard to find a permanent site for Bridgwater Post Office.

“We can confirm Sainsbury’s supermarket has been identified as the potential site which offers the best long term solution to maintaining Post Office services to people in Bridgwater.”

He added customers would benefit from longer opening hours, as the branch would be open from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm and on Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

He said: “Before a decision on the proposed new location takes place we are undertaking a full consultation process to allow customers and other interested parties the opportunity to provide their views on the site being considered.”

During the public consultation Post Office Ltd wants feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision.

The consultation closes on September 5 2012. Submissions can be made during consultation by post to Post Office Ltd, c/o National Consultation Team, PO Box 1138, ST ALBANS AL1 9UN, via email to consultation@postoffice.co.uk, via the Customer Helpline 08457 22 33 44 or Textphone 08457 22 33 55.

*Sedgemoor District Council will also be holding a Community Scrutiny Committee Meeting on Monday, July 23, to consider the proposed plans and it is hoped Post Office representatives will attend.
