SOMERSET has seen 261 positive Covid-19 tests in the latest 24-hour figures.

The latest new confirmed cases in the county council area mean there have now been 15,353 positive tests for the virus since the start of the pandemic.

In daily figures released by the Government yesterday, there were 59 new cases in South Somerset; 88 in Somerset West and Taunton; 64 in Sedgemoor; and 50 in Mendip.

The district totals since the start of the pandemic have risen to 4,024 in South Somerset; 4,627 in Somerset West and Taunton; 4,062 in Sedgemoor; and 2,640 in Mendip.

The latest infection rates based on the seven-day running total of confirmed cases are 245.3 per 100,000 people in South Somerset (slightly down from 245.9 the previous day); 390 in SWT (down from 406.2); 306.9 in Sedgemoor (unchanged); and 279.4 in Mendip (up from 270).
